Volunteers

“After almost 150 years of continuous, devoted community service to the people of Waipu, we feel we could do with a fresh injection of youth.”

Games Day Volunteer

We rely on the goodwill of many local Waipu folk to assist us in all sorts of interesting ways to help things runs smoothly. From setting up for the event, lending a hand on the Games Day itself and/or packing up on the following day. We can never have enough help, so if you feel you may be able to assist us at some point (even in just a small way) we’d love to hear from you.

Please email us for more information.

Games Committee Volunteer

The Waipu Highland Games committee are a group of enthusiastic locals inspired to help continue running this iconic New Year’s Day Waipu event. We meet in the months leading up to the event to ensure everything runs smoothly on Games Day. If you feel you may be able to assist (again even in just some small way) we’d love to have your expertise on board. And remember, you don’t have to have a Scottish connection to be part of our team.

Caledonian Society Committee Volunteer

The Waipu Caledonian Society (a not-for-profit organisation) was established with its core purpose: “To raise funds to help assist the pride and well-being  of the people of Waipu, encouraging wider community engagement in everything we do.”

Since that time, Waipu has certainly been at the heart of everything we do. Back in 1905, we purchased the grounds now known as Caledonian Park, more recently we built the Celtic Barn and for 150 years we have organised and run the annual Waipu Highland Games. All proceeds from this iconic event go into the ongoing maintenance of the Caledonian Grounds and buildings along with our other community facilities and services.

Any organisation is only as good as the people within it. And because of that, the Caledonian Society is keen to encourage even more good people onto the committee. We meet once a month in the Caledonian Rooms behind the Celtic Barn and invite anyone who would like to share their skills or enthusiasm to join us in continuing to keep this unique and very important community service going.
